Arena Ice Secures Three Year Newcastle Deal

Arena Ice, part of Arena Group, has announced a three year contact with Newcastle’s International Centre for Life, supplying a full turnkey temporary ice rink solution each winter.


The company will design and build a 16m by 28m ice rink with supporting temporary structures including skate exchange, changing rooms and reception area. Built from its sustainable and economic real ice system, it is proven to lower costs by up to 30 per cent.


The Newcastle-upon-Tyne venue opened in 2000 and houses hundreds of researchers, doctors and nurses, alongside workers in the education, public engagement and business sectors.


It includes a science museum, with the ice rink providing a valuable additional revenue and entertainment stream throughout the winter months.


Ian Moynes, general manager of Arena Ice, comments: “Arena Ice provided the rink last year, ensuring all the clients requests and restrictions were adhered too from the design stage through to the completion of the dismantle. Once again the continued success of this rink has highlighted the growing trend for customers to perceive their local and preferred ice rink to be a Christmas tradition for the family to attend.


“Arena Ice are extremely proud to announce the signing of a three year contract; the continued unique position of owning all of our own equipment is, in my belief, a large factor in the client’s willingness to enter into this contract. The client can rest easy that every part of the build will be dealt with by Arena and eliminate many of the supply change issues associated with multiple contractor involvement. The coming ice rink season is set to be an excellent one and I look forward to working with Newcastle to improve and innovate during the contract duration” 


The rink will open on Saturday 14th November 2015 and close Sunday 21 February 2016, with Arena Ice commencing build work in October.
